CENTRAL COAST – The buzz is all about Betty White these days, and it just so happens the entertainment icon chooses the Central Coast as her home away-from-home.

Your Central Coast News' Liza Sullivan sat down with Betty White to talk about her career and how the Central Coast contributes to her long-lasting success.

At 88 years old, Betty White continues to be a crowd pleaser.

From sitcoms, talk shows, games shows, and movies, to six Emmys and many other honors.

This year Betty White earned the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.

"It's given by your peers, people in your business, and I can't tell you how thrilled and grateful I am," she said.

Betty White is best-known for her role as Rose on the Golden Girls, and the happy and scandalous homemaker on the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Her latest work includes a very popular Super Bowl ad for Snickers, and a role alongside Sandra Bullock in The Proposal.

But when it comes time for Betty White to relax, she escapes to Carmel.

"What I love about Central Coast is it really gets your head back straight, when you're running around doing a lot of other things. You sit and watch that ocean for a little while and all of a sudden it sorts out your priorities," she said.

Betty White stays in the home she built 25 years ago with her late husband Allen Ludden.

"We were half-way done building it when we found out he wasn't going to make it. But he saw it finished and he slept there two nights. So he's still in every drawer, in every piece of wallpaper we picked out together, so it's a treasure." she said.

Betty White will always have the Central Coast to come back to while she stays active in a business that has treated her so well over the past 61 years.

"I must say, I'm still enjoying it, and surprised everyday when they ask me to do something else," she said.

Now a Facebook fan page is exploding in popularity rallying support for Betty White to host Saturday Night Live. The page has nearly 150 thousand fans who hope to see the adorable and hilarious star make a first-time appearance on SNL.
