SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- A well known Central Coast winemaker was found dead on a beach in Santa Barbara a month ago.
Investigators still aren't confirming whether Christopher Marks' death was an accident, suicide or homicide.
Santa Barbara police are only saying the circumstances surrounding his death are 'suspicious'.
When Christopher Marks' body was found at the bottom of Shoreline Park cliffs, his death was first ruled as accidental but later, the autopsy report showed otherwise.
The death of winemaker Christopher Marks in September remains a mystery.
Police say his autopsy report came back with 'suspicious' results but wouldn't say how he died.
"It probably is a homicide because if it were accidental death or suicide there would be no reason to hide the autopsy or details of the autopsy,"say Central Coast News retired FBI expert Dan Payne.
Payne says if reports that surfaced speculating Marks was shot in the head are true, the autopsy would easily reveal that.
"if the bullet were still in the cranium it would be valuable for forensic evidence. If not they're going to have to go back to the investigators and reconstruct his background, associates and last known whereabouts," says Payne.
Marks body was found off the cliffs at shoreline park in Santa Barbara one month ago tomorrow.
"Chances are body was dumped on the beach and there would be little value to a crime scene right at the scene of the body. Again, I go back to the point where talking to his associates or family. Is there a motive to do away with him?" says Payne.
And that's what Santa Barbara police and the FBI are still trying to find out.
