SANTA BARBARA – Public comments made at Santa Barbara City Council meetings led to the investigation and arrest of the operators of Humanity medical marijuana dispensary.
The Santa Barbara Police say, for the past few months they have received reports, some made at city council meetings, that Humanity medical marijuana dispensary was operating illegally.
SBPD narcotic detectives began an investigation and were able to make marijuana purchases at the dispensary with a counterfeit marijuana recommendation card. Identification was never checked.
Following these purchases, 7 search warrants were issued for 5 Humanity employees and 2 business locations.
During the searches, 63 pounds of marijuana were found buried in a backyard, 281 doses of un-prescribed anabolic steroids, 150 marijuana plants and $12,000 in cash were seized.
The owner of Humanity, 33 year old Brandon Timothy Fox was arrested on conspiracy to possess and sell marijuana. Humanity employees, Timonty Kurriss, Caroline Kuriss, Brenden Bapista, Raul Adame and Jose Adame were arrested on the same charges.
Courts also authorized the police department to freeze $25,000 in bank accounts so they can determine if that money is profits from illegally selling marijuana at the Humanity Dispensary.
