SOLVANG – One man is dead after a police stand-off in Solvang that went into the early morning hours.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department was called out to the 2200 block of Sunrise Way on a report of a domestic dispute just before 6:30 Sunday afternoon.

Harold Meyers had reportedly threatened his wife with a handgun before she was able to flee and call the authorities.

When the Sheriff's Department arrived they attempted to make contact with the Meyers, who was believed to still be inside the home.  After several unsuccessful attempts to make contact, deputies contacted the Special Enforcement Team and issued a Reverse 911 ® call to the homes in the immediate area warning them of the incident and asking them to stay inside.

More unsuccessful attempts were made to contact the man inside the home.  At approximately 11:16pm, members of the SET made entry into the home.  After searching the home, they discovered Meyers deceased inside.

It appears he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, however the cause of death will not be known until the coroner completes its investigation.
