CENTRAL COAST - Business on the Central Coast can save hundreds, even thousands, of dollars each year in energy costs by taking advantage of a free program from PG&E.
Papa John's in San Luis Obispo recently did just that and found areas where they were already saving and areas where they could save more.
"The easiest place to find savings is with the lighting," said Erik Linkugel with PG&E. "Papa John's is already using energy-saving lights, so that's a good thing."
It's Linkugel's job to evaluate what's working, and what isn't, for each business.
During our visit, he found inefficiencies with the restaurants pizza heating system, the lights above the ovens, and even some places where the company could save with lighting the outdoor sign.
Linkugel suggests using LED lights, instead of fluorescents.
Residential customers can find many of the same tips used for businesses on PG&E's website.
