Filling
2/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour (isn't all-purpose flour amazing?! Apparently you can use it for anything!)
5 to 7 tart apples
1. Whisk together the first six ingredients until smooth.
2. Core and thinly slice the apples, I leave the skin on but you gotta' be you!
3. Drop apples into the sour cream mixture and toss well to coat.
4. Place apples into a 9x9 baking pan.
Cinnamon Sugar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1. Mix the sugars and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the apple mixture
Topping
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup pecans
8 ounces cold butter, cut in 4 pieces
1. Place ingredients into the bowl of a food processor and process until mixture resembles and feels like "wet sand".
2. Sprinkle all of the pecan mixture over apples.
3. Place pan into a 350 degree oven and bake for approximately 1 hour or until topping is golden brown and the juices are bubbling and the apples are tender.
4. Serve warm with whipped cream or better yet, your favorite vanilla ice cream.
