Choosing the "Greenest" Christmas Tree

Posted: Updated:

It may be the greenest option out there: a live potted Christmas Tree.

Scott Martin is the owner of living Christmas trees. It's a rental service in Los Angeles that gives you the option to have a real tree in your home for the holiday's, without having to cut one down.

"It's about starting a new family tradition. So previously you went to the corner tree lot, you picked it out. Now you get your Christmas tree delivered."

It's a great option for those who don't have time or space to grow a tree. Customers can choose from a number of different sizes and varieties, and have it delivered to their home for about fifty to 200 dollars.

And for those who've embraced the idea, like Jason Aposto, it is about more than making an eco-friendly choice

"It's about the holiday in general and something that goes on living into the new year."

According to Martin, the trees are also the safest option.

"There's a lot more moisture involved with the tree, so they're a lot less flammable than the standard tree."

Another plus: no clean-up.

After the holidays are over the company picks up the tree and returns it to the nursery.
