SANTA MARIA VALLEY - Construction on a new greenhouse facility in the Santa Maria Valley is well underway.
Windset Farms is building four massive greenhouses, a processing facility and a packing plant west of Santa Maria on Black Road.
The Canadian based business grows tomatoes, bell peppers and cucumbers, among other crops, in technologically advanced greenhouses across the world.
This is the company's first facility on the west coast.
Jerry Williams, the President of GW Design, told Your Central Coast News, "It's a good project. It's going to generate a lot of jobs and it's good for the area."
Two of the greenhouses will be finished between July and September.
The other two within the next two years.
With the completion of Windset Farms, Steve Newell (President and CEO of Windset Farms) says 200 to 270 jobs will be opening.
The jobs will range from maintenance to management.
