SANTA MARIA - Some Central Coast students have come up with a sweet way to raise money for local cancer patients.
As part of a class project, the Allan Hancock students were asked to come up with a way to benefit others in the community.
They will be hosting a pancake breakfast, Saturday morning, at Cool Hand Luke's in Santa Maria.
All proceeds will go toward the Marian Cancer Care Center and the future Mission Hope Cancer Center, which offers state of the art technology for patients in the Santa Maria Valley.
Andrea Tophan, one of the Allan Hancock Students leading this, told us, "Each one of us has a family member or friend or loved one who's currently at Marian, so to know that the money is going here in our community is a really good feeling."
Dr. Monica Rocco, Surgical Director for Marian Medical Center, says "You no longer have to leave the Central Coast to get fabulous cancer care, you can stay right here in Santa Maria. We offer the best cancer care there is, in our new cancer center."
The breakfast will run from 9 to 11am, Saturday May 14th.
Tickets are five dollars at the door.
