SALINAS, Calif- Monterey County Sheriff Scott Miller has kept a low profile after his son was arrested on drug charges but now he is speaking out against allegations. After a cease and desist letter and restraining order was sent to Monterey County Undersheriff Max Houser the Sheriff said that he has asked the Department of Justice to step in and look at the investigation.
He told reporters at the news conference "People with nothing to hide, hide nothing."
Sheriff Miller says that he still has not seen a copy of the order and he has not been served. Central Coast News was able to obtain the order and it alleges that the Sheriff told his wife that deputies would be coming to the house. The complaint claims if Miller alerted his wife, he broke the law because giving notice jeopardizes officer safety.
The complaint also alleges that Undersheriff Houser has been questioning some of the officers that were involved in the arrest of Jacob Miller and that those officers feel they might be retaliated against.
