BUELLTON - The Buellton City Council voted 4 to 1 Thursday to send a letter to the California Public Utilities Commission, regarding Smart Meters.
The City Manager tells Your Central Coast News, the letter will ask that Buellton residents are given a "no cost" opt-out option if they don't want a Smart Meter.
PG&E has proposed an opt-out option as well, but it involves a $270 initial fee and a monthly fee.
Some people feel the meters are a health hazard and unreliable.
