Current CHW Event: Integrative Medicine and Cancer Care Program

San Luis Obispo, August 20, 2011 – The Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) at French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) invites you to attend the Integrative Medicine and Cancer Care: The Role of Exercise. The program will be presented by a panel of local experts that will be discussing the benefits of exercise during cancer treatment and beyond. The program is free of charge and will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 6- 8 pm in the FHMC auditorium. 

At this event you will learn how exercise supports treatment and may help with side effects, when to begin an exercise routine, the benefits of exercise after treatment, and what the recommended guidelines for exercise are. 

The featured speakers on the panel include Thomas Spillane, M.D., Thomas Vendegna, M.D., Zoe Wells, N.D., and Kate Wels. 

Thomas Spillane is a Medical Oncologist with Coastal Integrative Cancer Care. He is also a member of the HCRC Advisory Committee and serves as the Medical Director of the HCRC. 

Thomas Vendegna is Board Certified in Pulmonary Critical Care and is a partner with Central Coast Chest Consultants. He is also a cancer survivor and is the Chair of the HCRC Advisory Committee. 

Zoe Wells specializes in natural medicine including cancer wellness and maintaining health through chemotherapy and radiation treatments. She has maintained a natural family health care practice in San Luis Obispo since 1997. 

Kate Wels is a post-rehabilitation trainer who has been in the fitness industry for 30 years working with all age groups. She has been a trainer for two years with the Cancer WellFit Program at the Avila Bay Athletic Club and Spa.
