Advisory in Place at Pismo Beach Following Shark Sighting on Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

PISMO BEACH - Warning signs are posted at a beach on the Central Coast, alerting people of a shark sighting.

Yesterday, Cal-Fire received reports of a shark sighting, in the waters near the Pismo Beach Pier.

Signs warning beach goers of the sighting, have been posted at every entrance to the water, along the one-and-a-half miles of beach.

The signs will be up for 72 hours.

Pismo Beach Mayor, Shelly Higginbotham says, "If there is a sighting, an individual will be interviewed by a member of our fire department which is CAL FIRE, and they will ask a series of questions that really narrow down the scope of the sighting, and really make sure it was a shark, i.e. what did the fin look like, what were the conditions of the sea at the time of the sighting."

Yesterday's sighting, is the fifth shark sighting at Pismo Beach, within the last month.
