Pismo Beach to Shed Light in an Energy-Efficient Way

Posted: Updated:

PISMO BEACH - The City of Pismo Beach will be casting a new light on its efforts to go green.

It's going to replace its outdated light fixtures with more efficient, power saving LED lights.

Pismo Beach has received a grant for $46,000 from the California Energy Commission.

The money will help pay to put the new technology into 17-street lights and 27 decorative light fixtures throughout the city.

The new lights are expected to save the city almost $4,000 a year in electricity costs.

"This is an important project because it again demonstrates the City's commitment to reduce our green house gas emissions and to go green and comply with AB 32 standards." Mayor Shelley Higginbotham with Pismo Beach told Your Central Coast News.

The City of Pismo Beach is matching the grant money with more than $36,000 of its own funds.
