District Attorney Requests Tony Denunzio Case to be Moved to Santa Maria

SANTA BARBARA - The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's has filed a motion to transfer the Tony Denunzio case from the Santa Barbara courthouse to Santa Maria.

The Deputy District Attorney said in court Friday that the pre-trial publicity and media coverage will make it difficult to find a jury in Santa Barbara who wouldn't already know about the case.

Denunzio was arrested for DUI and driving with a suspended license in November.

When he resisted arrest, officers used a taser, punched and kicked him to get him into custody.

The D.A. says there was not enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that excessive force was used.
