San Luis Obispo -- A Paso Robles woman will spend nearly 8 years behind bars.
46 year old Jennifer Chill was convicted of vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI for a deadly drunk driving crash in 2010 in Paso Robles that killed 20 year old Jacob Keller and seriously injured his 20 year old friend Nolan Martinez.
Before sentencing Chill heard from the families and Nolan Martinez who survived the crash.
Police say Jennifer Chill had a blood alcohol level of .19, twice the legal limit, when she crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit a truck driven by Jacob Keller.
He died at the scene his passenger and his friend Nolan Martinez is still working to overcome his injuries from the crash.
Anna-Marie Hernandez , Nolan Martinez's mother, said in court, "No amount of punishment will suffice for the loss of our dear cowboy Jake or the injuries and life changing events Nolan has had to endure."
Peggy Keller, Jake's mother, addressed the court and Chill directly, "Jennifer make the rest of your life count, you've been chosen to live, it could have been you who died on that street that night."
The judge sentenced Chill to 7 years and 8 months in prison.
Jake's and Nolan's family thank the community for the outpouring of support and the police officers who spent time in court, even their own personal time.
They hope this case helps raise awareness of the dangers of drunk driving.
