The CDC is advising families against having turtles as pets.
A new report from the health agency says while the sale of small turtles has been banned since 1975... they are still being sold illegally in places such as fairs and flea markets.
The CDC says the small reptiles have the potential of infecting young children and those with weak immune systems with salmonella.
