
LOMPOC, Calif. - Lompoc Police officers arrested three people while patrolling the streets Saturday night for drunk drivers. The set-up the checkpoint on the 1900 Block of North H Street.
Lompoc Police say they stopped approximately 1,825 vehicles. They arrested two people with a suspended license. During one of those stops, the driver was also carrying an illegal and dangerous weapon and was charged with a felony. They also made a warrant arrest.
During the checkpoint, police evaluated 24 people for driving under the influence.
"Over the course of the past three years, DUI Collisions have claimed 2 lives and resulted in 97 injury crashes harming 99 of our friends and neighbors," says Lompoc Sgt. Ed Lardner.
Funding for this checkpoint is provided to Lompoc Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, targeting those who still don't heed the message to designate a sober driver.
