ATASCADERO - While most schools across the state are struggling to get by, a Central Coast junior high school is going to get an upgrade.
The Atascadero Unified School District Board of Trustees decided give Atascadero Junior High School a new look at its current location.
Crews will build new classrooms while keeping the school's gym and cafeteria.
The upgrades should cost more than $30 million.
Students will remain in their current classrooms as the new buildings are constructed on the same site.
By not moving to a temporary location, the school district will save about $20 million.
The cost will be covered by a school bond measure, already approved by voters.
