Man Arrested For Assaulting Girlfriend

BRADLEY - A northern San Luis Obispo County man, arrested for going on a rampage and assaulting his girlfriend, bailed himself out of jail.

Deputies say 53-year-old Steven Smith, of Bradley, armed himself with a gun and slapped his girlfriend yesterday afternoon.

He then threatened to kill himself, drove off in his truck, and crashed into some bushes near his home.

Deputies eventually reached him in the remote area above Heritage Ranch with the help of a CHP helicopter.
