Employee Averts Fire At New Hospital

SANTA MARIA - An alert employee helped avoid a possible disaster at a hospital that hasn't even opened yet.

Around 1:00 PM on Tuesday, smoke from a melted plastic toolbox set off alarms at Marian Medical Center's new hospital.

By the time fire crews got there, an employee had taken care of the situation.

There was no fire and no damage done to the building.
