GROVER BEACH - A suspected serial car burglar was caught red-handed after being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Doug Wilson says he woke up to a Grover Beach police officer at his front door just after five o'clock in the morning.
"He said they caught somebody inside my truck", Wilson says.
Grover Beach Police arrested 21 year old Matthew Ortega of Oceano after they say he was found sitting in Wilson's truck.
"He picked the wrong truck" Wilson says, "I was getting ready to sell this one so there's not much in it."
Police say an off-duty Sheriff's Deputy just happened to be driving through the intersection of Oak Park Blvd and The Pike early Wednesday morning and noticed suspicious activity.
"I think they caught him at a point where he was probably getting ready to put things away", Wilson says, "but he didn't have the time to do it because I think they surprised him."
Grover Beach Police say Ortega has a long record of prior convictions.
He's now facing multiple charges of vehicle burglary and police add they do not believe he was acting alone.
Police say they're trying to find out if Ortega is linked to a string of other vehicle break-ins in neighboring Arroyo Grande and in other parts of southern San Luis Obispo County.
