ORCUTT - After several years of planning and fundraising Orcutt is getting a new library.
The current library is located in the Oak Knolls shopping center on the east side of Orcutt. The new one will open in the new business development in old town.
It will also be more than four thousand square feet, almost twice the size of the current one. That is one of the reasons Orcutt is getting a new library.
Another reason, the population in the area has grown quite a bit since the last remodel and technology needs to be updated.
Planning has hit a speed bump though. On Tuesday the city received bids on the project and they all came in a lot higher then expected.
The county has allocated funds for the project and it will pay for a majority of it. The Friends of the Orcutt library have also been raising money for the project.
