San Luis Obispo -- A hiker is safe and recovering from a fall while hiking on bishop peak in San Luis Obispo earlier today.
The 25 year old woman was near the top of bishop peak when she fell and injured her ankle. She was unable to hike off the mountain.
Cal fire, San Luis Obispo City Fire and Santa Barbara County's helicopter all helped in the rescue.
Crews had to first make the 45 minute to an hour trek up the mountain to assess her injury.
Then because the CHP helicopter was up in Monterey County the Santa Barbara County chopper was called in to hoist the hiker off the mountain.
Fire-fighters say the fact that she had a cell phone with her helped rescuers get to her location quickly.
