Susan Brown, a 47-year-old Ventura resident, and her niece were crossing the road from the Costco parking lot to the In & Out Burger restaurant when they were both hit by a SUV.

The SUV was driven by Philip Smith, a 75 year old Santa Maria resident, said police.
