Woman Robbed While Walking Near Battles Elementary School

SANTA MARIA, Calif- Police say a woman who was walking along the intersection of Swallow and Battles was robbed Friday afternoon.

Police say that the victim was walking towards Battles Elementary School when the suspect pulled out a gun and stole her necklace.

Several witnesses told police where the suspect was hiding. Officers searched the house and found the suspect hiding in the backyard.

The suspect, Jose Rivera, a 29-year-old from Solvang, was arrested and booked on charges of armed robbery.
