New Details On Missing Santa Maria Woman

LOMPOC - 53 year old Peggy Castillo was last seen on Wednesday when she drove over to visit her sister in Lompoc.

"She came over on Wednesday", says her sister Teresa Morehart, "she suffers from depression and bi-polar disorder, I don't think she's taking her medicine."

Peggy Castillo's white Honda was found abandoned Thursday afternoon by her niece along a remote stretch of Drum Canyon Road near the Los Alamos Cemetery.

Most of her belongings were in the car except her cell phone.

"No one saw her Thursday", Morehart says, "my nephew called her cell phone and a guy answered the phone and said his name was Doug, he was in Los Alamos, and so my nephew asked him, 'why do you have my mom's phone?', and he didn't really give him an answer."

Since Peggy Castillo lives in Santa Maria, its a Santa Maria Police Department missing person's case even though the Sheriff's Department initially took the report

"The Sheriff's was called, they went out with the dog, they haven't found anything", Morehart says.

Santa Maria Police says they are now searching for 54 year old Marcos Garza, a Santa Maria transient for information on Castillo's whereabouts. Police say Garza is not wanted and is not suspected of a crime. Garza is only being sought for questioning.
