
STEVENS PASS, Washington - Three people were killed in an avalanche that occurred Sunday afternoon near Stevens Pass.
According to the King County Sheriff's Office, CPR was performed on the three people, but it was unsuccessful. The others are no longer missing.
The Sheriff's Office said there were three groups of three or more skiing in an out of bounds and closed area. There were possibly up to 12 people who were buried in the snow.
Sgt. Katie Larson said the skiers were experienced and traveling close together. When the avalanche occurred, some of the skiers were dragged down.
The Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center on Sunday issued a warning for high avalanche danger.
