LOS ALAMOS, Calif.-- A Santa Maria woman who went missing last week was found safe in Los Alamos Sunday night.
Santa Maria Police said they received information that 53-year-old Peggy Castillo, an at-risk adult, had been found in an abandoned trailer by the property owner.
The property owner later learned about Castillo from a missing person flier. Castillo was transported to Marian Hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. She was then reunited with family members.
Castillo had driven to see her sister in Lompoc, but her niece found her white Honda along a remote stretch of Drum Canyon Road, near the Los Alamos Cemetery. Most of her belongings were in the car, except for her cell phone. There was a lot of concern because Castillo was without her necessary medication.
