SANTA MARIA - Gas prices around the country seem to be going in one direction, up. Experts are saying no relief is in sight.
Gas is now the costliest it's ever been this time of year, a nationwide average of $3.56 per gallon, up 40 cents in a year.
The Central Coast is well above the national average. In places like Los Angeles the prices in some gas stations are pennies shy of hitting the five dollar mark.
In our neck of the woods some gas stations are pushing the $4.50 mark so we are not quite up to par with the big city not necessarily a bad thing in this case.
So, is there any relief in sight? The short answer, probably not. Experts expect the prices to continue to increase through the spring into the summer driving season and some say that five dollars a gallon of gas might be in the very near future for cities like L.A.
