Changes Could Be Coming For A Historic Landmark on the Central Coast

Posted: Updated:

SAN LUIS OBISPO - Some changes could be coming for an historic landmark on the Central Coast.

The Octagon Barn in San Luis Obispo was built in the 19-hundreds as a dairy barn... now there's an effort to turn it into an event center.

Community members have worked for years to preserve the unique old barn.

The plan now is to get county approval to transform it into a museum... educational center... and venue for private and public events.

B.K. Richard from the Land Conservancy of SLO County says, "We see movies happening here, plays perhaps, dances, some weddings, reunions all kinds of things we think will be very effective in this space."

The Land conservancy of San Luis Obispo County is seeking a permit from the County.... to make the Octagon Barn remodel a reality.

It will go before the Planning Commission this Thursday.
