
SANTA MARIA, Calif- The City of Santa Maria is getting a little more help from an $85 dollar device called the Enforcer that helps to notify nearby police when someone runs a red light.
The small, 21-ounce devices are mounted on the back of the traffic signal. When the traffic signal turns to red, the Enforcer indicator light turns bright blue and is able to signal nearby traffic officers when someone runs a red light.
The city started using the Enforcer in August of 2011 and, based on recommendations by the Santa Maria Police Department, the city is now putting the device on several other busy intersections.
The Traffic Enforcers are located at these intersections:
Broadway (State Route 166) and Donovan Road
Donovan Road and Carlotti Drive
Broadway and Alvin Avenue
Main Street (State Route 135) and Broadway
Main Street and Miller Street
Broadway and Stowell Road
Broadway and Betteravia Road
Broadway and McCoy Lane
Blosser Road and Stowell Road
Bradley and Stowell Road
Blosser Road and Betteravia Road
Bradley Road and Betteravia Road
Betteravia Road and Miller Street
