SANTA MARIA - Santa Maria's Economic Development Commission, which is a department of the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor & Convention Bureau, is asking businesses to participate in a survey so it can assess the current state of the economy in the city.
Dave Cross, who is the director with the Economic Development Commission, says the survey is hoping to attract all businesses in the city, no matter how big or how small.
"We want to look at all those sectors that make up our local economy and see how they're doing in real time and see what the economic forecast is going to look like."
The purpose is to gain a better understanding of the business climate and also so the city can respond to it.
"it's important to know where businesses are struggling and where they're succeeding. We want to see where we can help and the Economic Development Commission and the City of Santa Maria can help local businesses and also support them."
All businesses can take part in the survey through March 5th. Results should be completed by the end of March.
