Posted: Updated:

NIPOMO, Calif. – On Saturday, two bicycle officers were on patrol in the area of Nipomo and Dana when they noticed one driver excessively accelerate and spin the tires of the car in what they call an unsafe and dangerous manner.

When police contacted the driver Brian Lima, of King City, he stepped on the gas and drove away from officers.  Police said Lima turned onto westbound Dana Street, which is a dead end roadway. Officers followed and tried to stop Lima, but one of them had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck.

Other officers assisted in the arrest on the 600 block of Toro.  Lima was arrested  on charges of Reckless Driving, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Against a Peace Officer. Bail was set at $50,000.00
