
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Santa Maria Police Department canceled a scheduled DUI and Drivers License Checkpoint due to weather on Saturday.
Officers did however, conduct a DUI saturation patrol from 6:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.
As a result of the saturation patrol, 8 drivers were evaluated for DUI, 1 driver was cited for being unlicensed, 3 drivers were cited for misc. violations and 1 vehicle was impounded for thirty days.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
