Paso Robles -- The Paso Robles Police Chief Lisa Solomon is stepping down she reached an agreement with the city that will pay her 250-thousand dollars.
Paso Robles City Manager Jim App says one of the reasons for the settlement is to avoid ending up in court.
App Says, "It's a special circumstance and yes it definitely has to do with avoiding litigation there are issues for both sides the city and for the departed chief ."
Lisa Solomon became chief in 2007. In January online news site, Cal Coast News, reported that several Paso Robles Police Officers claimed Solomon sexually harassed them and retaliated against them.
In a letter Solomon says the reported accusations were too much of a distraction for herself, the city and the department. Earlier this week she reached a mutual agreement with the city to step down. The 250-thousand dollar payout is one year total compensation and the cost of all the chief's benefits, plus accrued leave.
The settlement will come out of the city's 10-million dollar cash reserve, which is 40-percent of the its operating budget.
App says the City will soon begin the search for a new chief, which will likely take 6 to 9 months. Acting Chief Robert Burton is in charge for now.
