French Hospital Medical Center to Host “Share the Hope” Event

SAN LUIS OBISPO [April 3, 2012] – The French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) Foundation, a Dignity Health member of the Central Coast, is proud to announce that it will host the fifth annual "Share the Hope" event at Hearst Ranch on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC).

The event, hosted by Steve Hearst, will feature a champagne reception alongside the Neptune Pool at Hearst Castle, a gourmet dinner at the Hearst Ranch Dairy Barn catered by Chef Maegen Loring of The Neon Carrot, and live music by Monte Mills and the Lucky Horseshoe Band.  The event will also feature a live auction with unique items, including a Luxurious Five-Star Beverly Hills Weekend and special tours of Hearst Ranch and Hearst Castle.  In addition, a local cancer survivor will share her inspirational story. 

Over the past four years, the event has raised $480,000 before expenses to benefit the HCRC. A special call to action will be made at this year's event to raise funds for the HCRC's Angel of Hope Fund, which provides for the special needs of cancer patients and their families.

The HCRC collaborates with community and physician partners to provide supportive and educational services necessary for cancer patients to understand their disease, manage treatment, and maintain dignity and quality of life throughout all aspects of their cancer experience.  Staffed by oncology professionals, the HCRC houses the latest information on cancer treatment options, nutrition, pain management and stress reduction. The HCRC features a Resource Library and an Appearance Center, as well as hosting everything from laughing classes and yoga, to lectures and support groups.

All services provided by the HCRC are offered at no charge to clients. Since opening its doors in 2008, the HCRC has experienced more than 27,000 visits and contacts from cancer patients and family members, as well as many community organizations.
