According to deputies:

On October 6, 2011, Freeman called his ex-girlfriend and asked for a ride from San Luis Obispo to Morro Bay.  The Victim then reluctantly agreed to give Freeman a ride, but advised she would have to pick her young child up from day-care first.  After picking up the child and while en route to Morro Bay on South Bay Boulevard, Freeman asked the Victim if he could stay with her at her home since he had no place to go.  Victim made it clear that Freeman could not stay with her and her young child.  Freeman got angry, grabbed the steering wheel of the vehicle and abruptly made the vehicle go off the road, through the ditch, crashing through a fence post, and approximately 70 yards into a pasture.    The vehicle was disabled as the front tires were deflated as a result.  The young child and Victim were not injured in the crash.

Freeman then took Victim's purse from the front seat of the car and fled from the vehicle.  The Victim followed and pleaded with Freeman to return her purse as it had all of her money inside.  As Victim was holding onto her purse and struggling with Freeman to get her purse, Freeman then forcibly grabbed $40 cash from her wallet, threw the purse on the ground, and fled the scene on foot.
