SAN LUIS OBISPO - Port San Luis was established in 1873, and with over a century of use you could imagine it needs a facelift.
Brian Kreowski, the President of the Port San Luis Harbor says, "we are responsible for the maintenance and also the preservation, historic and cultural."
The wharf, that used to serve as a gateway to the Central Coast is getting fixed up.
"It's in good repair, but further out where you see the warehouse we need to restore the warehouse and the pier underneath," says Kreowski.
The district has the state to thank.
They have received $624,000 in state grants for the wharf and $1.5 million for the historic light house.
"We have these resources that have been handed down to us and it's important for to have them for our children, for our own identity, realizing who we are and where we came from," says Kreowski.
