BUELLTON, Calif. -- State Parole officials are searching for a sex offender that they have lost contact with, earlier in the week.

Officials say Albert Lee Allen was last detected near Buellton on Wednesday.

According to the California Department of Corrections, an alert came through around 2:50 p.m. that Allen's monitoring device had been cut.

Agents an hour later recovered the cut bracelet.

An emergency warrant has been issued for Allen and the California Parole Apprehension Team (CPAT) is now out searching for him.

According to California's Megan's Law web site and CDCR, Allen has been in violation for failing to register as a sex offender since March 5, 2012.

Allen is listed as a transient and is required to register as a sex offender after a prior conviction of forcible rape.

Allen is a high priority sex offender, required to meet with his parole officers twice a month.

Allen last checked in on May 8th.

Allen is described as 5'11" with black hair and brown eyes.

If you think you have spotted Allen, contact your local law enforcement agency.
