SAN LUIS OBISPO [May 24, 2012] – The French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) Foundation is proud to announce that it will host the sixth annual French Cup Golf and Tennis Tournament at the San Luis Obispo Country Club on Monday, June 11, 2012. All proceeds from this event will benefit the FHMC Emergency Department expansion and modernization project, which is part of a significant overall hospital modernization and redesign project currently underway at FHMC. This critical project demonstrates FHMC's commitment to bring the most recent advancements in medicine to our community while raising the level of quality care provided close to home.
The event, sponsored by Mission Community Bank, will feature a golf tournament, women's doubles tennis tournament and an awards reception. Registration for The French Cup is open to the community and participants do not need to be members of the San Luis Obispo Country Club in order to participate. The golf tournament begins with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. and includes a hole-in-one contest, lunch, and "Restaurants on the Green" – local restaurants with special food selections provided to golfers throughout the course. The women's doubles tennis tournament begins at 2:00 p.m. and both tournaments are followed by an awards reception. Registration is now open and sponsorship opportunities are available.
Since its inception in 2007, The French Cup has generated more than $240,000 for FHMC's programs and services. In 2011, more than 145 members of the community participated in the tournament.
The FHMC Foundation hosts a number of fundraising activities such as the annual golf and tennis tournament to support patient services and hospital programs.
