Atascadero - The Atascadero City Council will decide later this month whether a new Wal-Mart store will be built on the North side of the city.
It is six years in the making,
The city will have to pay about 2-point-4 million dollars... for its portion of a freeway interchange.
Money that will be borrowed from the city's waste water treatment fund.
Mayor Bob Kelley says it's an investment, that would pay off in the future, providing at least 300 new jobs. "It also infuses into the economy the money that people make and spend and they say there is a seven multiplier rate where people go to the market buy gas and tires so it's an economic bonus for the city."
The city council will consider the Wal-Mart and annex project on June 26th.
