Santa Maria Man Threatens Victims with Rifle

Posted: Updated:

SANTA MARIA, Calif- A Santa Maria man is in jail after he barged in to a home with a rifle! Police say the man knew the people at the residence and say this crime was personal.

Police say 44-year-old, Michael Hester went into the home, threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and himself.

It happened at a complex on the 6-hundred block of East Sunrise, where Hester was seen entering the home with a rifle, through a sliding glass door.  A family member at the home then overpowered Hester and wrestled the rifle away.

Sergeant Marc Schnider says, "he then left on foot and we began a search of the area and he was later located at the corner of Santa Maria Way and Sunrise Drive."

He then took off to a commerical building nearby, ran up the stairs leading to the roof. He was found near air conditioning units on top of the building.  He's booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail for burglary and terrorist threats. Hester's bail is set at 750 thousand dollars.
