MONTECITO – The man law enforcement called a Good Samaritan was arrested Friday for vehicular manslaughter after a woman died and another was critically injured on Wednesday morning.
Around 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday on East Valley Road, 26-year-old Allison Meadows and 25-year-old Lindsay Keebler were reportedly struck by a hit-and-run driver and critically injured.
A Good Samaritan in the area put the women in his vehicle and drove them to Cottage Hospital more than eight miles away.
According to a CHP news release, due to the "unknown location of the incident, and the confusion as to if this was more than just a vehicle collision, Santa Barbara Police, Santa Barbara Sheriff's Deputies and CHP personnel responded to the hospital."
But before they arrived, Meadows died from her injuries.
In a twist to an already tragic story, the man law enforcement called a Good Samaritan was arrested on Friday for vehicular manslaughter. Tyrone Richardson, 28, was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $500,000.
A spokesperson with the Santa Barbara Area Highway Patrol said the booking photo of Richardson will not be released until CHP investigators speak with the District Attorney's Office.
Officers also declined an on-camera interview regarding the investigation.
As of Monday afternoon, Richardson had not posted bail.
