Mother Remembers Santa Barbara Man Found Dead Near Gaviota Beach

Posted: Updated:

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY - The mother of a Santa Barbara man found dead along the Gaviota Coast speaks fondly of her son with Central Coast News.

We are learning more about 29 year old Jeffrey Nancarrow, a member of the founding family of the Carrow's Restaurant chain.

Last weekend the body of 29 year old Jeffrey Nancarrow was found washed up along the shore north of Gaviota Beach in an area known as Poison Oak Point.

Nancarrow's mother says he was a devoted husband, father and friend who struggled with his demons after serving his country in the Iraq War with the 101rst Airborne Division.

"He was probably the most selfless, caring individual I have ever met in my entire life", says Nancarrow's mother Paula Michal.

Jeffrey Nancarrow was the grandson of the famous founder of the Carrow's Coffee Shop chain and several other well-known restaurants.

Nancarrow's mother remembers her son as the light of many people's lives.

"He was what I would describe kind of as an old soul", Michal says, "he cared about anyone and everyone, and he had no judgments around people."

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department says so far Nancarrow's death is not considered to be suspicious.

"He was the friend that everyone wished they had", Michal says, "that's who Jeffrey was."

Santa Barbara Police say they knew of Nancarrow as an Iraq War Veteran who was suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress--- and was possibly delusional and suicidal.

The last time anyone saw him before his death was May 23rd.

The Santa Barbara Count Sheriff's Department says it could be several weeks before the exact cause of Jeffrey Nancarrow's death is known.
