GUADALUPE, Calif- A kid's dream to become a police officer was enforced today. Nine local law enforcement agencies gathered today for a "kids day in the park"!
It was a meet and greet with community members and a fundraiser for police explorers! These explorer programs are aimed to mold kids 14-to-20 years old into young adults that make positive decisions. Explorers get to do first hand law enforcement work and today got to learn more about enforcement equipment and police k-9s! Corporal Ruben Ramirez with the Guadalupe Police Department says, "they do ride-a-longs, explorer competitions, basically what we prepare them for is life. Either they become police officers later on in their life or they go to college and become successful young people."
Samuel Sanchez, a Police Explorer says, "we've been learning about how to start pursuits and how to write up tickets, so far, check points DUI checkpoint." About 150-people showed up and the Guadalupe Police Department raised nearly 4-thousand dollars for their explorers.
