Former Santa Maria High School Teacher Faces Charges For Illegally Butchering Pigs

NIPOMO, Calif.- A former Santa Maria high school teacher from Nipomo is facing charges for illegally butchering and selling pig meat.

According to The Department of Agriculture, it's been happening inside their home on Camino Caballo in Nipomo.

The department says for three generations the family has been butchering pigs in unsanitary conditions. There's been at least 48 pigs per month sold for cash to the public without the meat being inspected and approved by the FDA.

The department says the family has also sold pig's blood.
