Law Enforcement Out In Full-Force At Lompoc Flower Festival

Posted: Updated:

LOMPOC, Calif.- The Lompoc Flower Festival is one of the biggest events of the year in the Lompoc Valley and it's well underway at Ryon Park.

In addition to the food booths serving up top notch local recipes, or traditional favorites like tri-tip and corn, there's also the carnival rides and entertainment.

Despite recent violent crime in the city and across the Lompoc Valley, people are flocking to the event. Perhaps looking for a few hours of good ol' American good fun to take their mind off all the depressing news with no consequences.

"I'm very excited to be here and represent my home town, its been an awesome experience working with these other 9 girls and going through all this process..the flower festival looks amazing and I hope to see everyone out here," says Karina Rich, 2012 Flower Festival Queen.

"Flower Festival here as well as many other functions have gone off flawlessly, with no problems, its been a real good family event over the years," says Sergeant Chuck Strange, Lompoc Police Department.

The festival continues through Sunday with live music and locally cooked food at the right price.

Lompoc Police say they will be out in full-force over the next three days, including undercover officers keeping an even closer eye on everyone who comes through the gates at Ryon Park.
