SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif.- The Santa Barbara Red Cross is sending a local employee to help with Colorado wildfires. So far, officials say more than 3,600 acres have been burned, and it's 5% contained.
Dean Phaneuf, the manager of Emergency Services for Red Cross of Santa Barbara County is being deployed to Colorado to help those affected by the blaze.
According to the Santa Barbara Red Cross, Phaneuf has extensive experience assisting with disasters, but this will be his first time being sent as a Red Cross staff member. Phaneuf is expected to leave early Tuesday morning.
