Bus Driver Bitten, Passenger Breaks Window and Escapes

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif- Around 9:00 Thursday night, a bus driver was attacked and bitten by a passenger.

The ride began at a bus stop in San Luis Obispo at the government center. RTA officials say this particular route, on Thursday nights has become troublesome for them. They usually send another RTA employee to accompany the driver.

But last night when a fight broke out the driver pulled over on the Cuesta Grade so he could try and stop the fight.  Instead he was bitten by the suspect who then broke a window and took off.

"We found that individual walking down the shoulder of the grade, he was placed under arrest for what happened, he did admit to biting the bus driver," says Officer J. W. Towsen, of San Luis Obispo CHP.

19-year old, Anthony Wilson was also found to be intoxicated and in possession of a drug. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail. Since the incident, RTA has put a camera on board the bus and plans to do the same in other buses.
